MATT "SIX" BAHR
Matt Bahr6 was born in Newport News, Virginia and it was clear that he was slightly different. His summers were a mix of boy scout camps in the forest and art classes at the Art Student League in Manhattan.
After graduating from high school, Matt moved to NYC and enrolled at the School of Visual Arts and worked towards a major in Comic Book Illustration. Matt got his first artist job working on Monday Night Football at ABC. There he was nominated twice for an Emmy in art direction. After several years, Matt moved to Myrtle Beach to raise his daughters by the ocean. There he learned the ends and outs of screenprinting, surfing, started the Embryo Surf Company, was a tattoo apprentice, and also continued to work for multiple clients in NYC and LA as a storyboard artist, conceptual artist, and graphic designer.
A few of the movies Matt took part in were Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, Hannibal, Children of the Living Dead, and the Aronofsky's Robocop remake. Matt recently moved to Athens, with his wife Kari, to work as an illustrator and designer for New World Graphics. NWG is one of the largest screenprinting companies of licensed apparel in the country.
His days are filled with designing the next best selling Georgia, Gamecock or BAMA tee shirt. At night, Matt is drawing storyboards and creating conceptual art for several movies currently in development. He's working right now on Appetites, Sherwood Horror, and several others. He's also working on his next iphone games. (His first game, Zombie Dodgeball, is available now on iTunes now).
Matt Bahr6 might seem to have a hectic schedule, but there's nothing that makes him more happier than spending every moment possible being creative, solving problems of design and composition, working on multiple projects at once, and telling a good story with images and art. To top all of this, Matt is also an instructor and art teacher with his "Capt'n Matt Cartooning Class". Originally, aimed at teaching cartooning and art basics to youth, it's become a fun all-ages event.
Matt plans on dying of old age with a pencil in his hand. Hopefully, he'll be drawing monsters and aliens. Samples of his work can be found at www.robo6.net.
